Welcome to Chinook Suet, Backyard Birders!

Chinook Suet is a Calgary based business that makes suet cakes, balls and other items for the feathered friends that call our urban backyards home. With a professional background in butchery and cooking, I have been creating suet cakes for many years (the first one was as a Girl Guide MANY years ago!) and I love to spend time at our big picture window with my kids watching the House Finches, Northern Flickers and other resident birds that come to snack on the treats left out for them.

Using rendered or ground beef fat, my items are made in small batches with premium ingredients, packaged using 100% compostable materials and can be stored in the freezer for up to 6 months.


I currently make two different types of suet cakes, available in 4 different blends:

-NoMelt, which is made using ground beef fat, low fat peanut butter, flour, cornmeal and oats. It can be left out up to +20C (this is the recipe used to make Bon-Bons and suet plugs)

-SubZero, which is made with a 50/50 mix of rendered beef fat and seeds. It's a great cake for those cold snaps where the daily highs don't get above 0C.

Product pickup is available in the NW community of Varsity or can be delivered for a small fee to anywhere in Calgary or the surrounding communities.
